The IIT Alumni Council is a privately funded, independent, autonomous and non-profit organisation.

Membership of the organisation has now been opened to three additional categories of members - family members of IIT Alumni, Corporates and other premium graduates who have an interest in the activities of the IIT Alumni Council.
